The minister added that the government is trying to use Japanese technology to promote cocoon production in the state.

He disclosed that the Kalimpong cocoon farm in Darjeeling had been used as Japanese technology.

He is optimistic that Japanese technology can even help the state restore its silk market, which is occupied by Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

In addition to the efforts of the state government to build the world famous Murshidabad brand, the minister said that the government has appointed a private consultant to provide proposals for the expansion of the Silk Market in the state.

The minister said that the state government had received a preliminary report from the consultant, which suggested that the weaving, sewing, design, printing and dyeing and embroidery of silk products should be improved.
