Tymoshenko, Prime Minister of Ukraine, said the government would consider modifying the current tax law at the next meeting, which would abolish the additional import duties of 13% of goods imported into Ukraine.

According to Ms. Tymoshenko, the draft law will be delivered to the Legislative Council on the weekend. She explained that the additional duties on imported goods were not consistent with the commitments made to WTO.

She also believes that unless Ukraine cancels import tariffs, other countries can impose export restrictions on Ukraine goods, which may lead to the closure of Ukraine's export commodities.

Thirteen percent of the import tariffs were eliminated, including carpets, knitted fabrics, garments, bedsheets, footwear and hats.

She said that some countries have expressed their views and dissatisfaction with the additional import tariffs.
