CPSC

In May 12, 2010, CPSC released the final rule of the mandatory standard 16 CFR 1216 for baby walkers. The standard is based on the voluntary standard ASTM F977-07 of the original baby walker. It has increased the requirements of three aspects, including the fall performance test, the slope stability test and the brake performance test. At the same time, the standard supersedes the mandatory standard of 16 CFR 1500.18 (a) (6) and 1500.86 (a) issued by the United States in 1971.

On the same day, CPSC also issued a draft request for approval of the third party conformity assessment agency for baby walkers. After 90 days of the formal approval of the approval requirement, all baby walkers should be tested by the third party conformity assessment agencies approved by the United States CPSC before they can be put into the US market.
