May 19Th Hu Jintao: Countries Should Continue To Implement Economic Stimulus Measures Early

Chinese President Hu Jintao held talks with German President Keller in the Great Hall of the people yesterday.

The heads of state of the two countries exchanged in-depth views on bilateral relations and issues of common concern.

Hu Jintao put forward four points on Developing Sino German Relations:

First, enhance political mutual trust.

From a strategic and long-term perspective, we should respect each other, treat each other equally, seek common ground while reserving differences.

Hu Jintao pointed out that, at present, the foundation of the world economic recovery is still not solid, and all countries should continue to adhere to the measures to stimulate the economy and continue to strengthen cooperation.

China firmly supports the joint efforts of the euro zone and the International Monetary Fund to start the Greek rescue mechanism.

We hope that the German side will strengthen cooperation within the framework of the group of twenty and promote the reform of the international financial system and international financial institutions to achieve positive results.

Keller said that Germany is willing to work together with China to properly cope with the international economic and financial crisis, ensure that the global economy remains open, oppose all forms of protectionism, promote sustained and stable development of the world economy, promote reform of the international financial system and work together to build a new international financial order.

After the talks, the leaders of the two countries attended the signing ceremony of bilateral cooperation documents.
