German Government Approves New Material Strategy

On the same day, the German federal cabinet approved the new strategy of raw materials submitted by Minister of economic affairs Bruederele.

The strategy involves mainly non energy mineral raw materials, such as rare earths that are important to the electronics industry.

Bruederele said, "the supply of industrial raw materials is of great importance to Germany's high-tech strategic position.

We have laid a solid foundation through the high-level raw material dialogue and the raw materials department established in October 4th.

The strategy of raw materials submitted today is aimed at further ensuring the supply of raw materials in Germany to cope with the new demand.

The strategy supports the German economic community in many ways to develop raw material sources, including the following measures:

1. guarantee financing and direct investment;

3. to provide political support for international raw material projects through the global network of foreign trade promotion.

4. improve the efficiency of raw material acquisition and processing and the recycling rate of second-hand raw materials. 5. set up bilateral with countries with rich raw material reserves

In addition to the economic problems of raw materials, the strategy also includes principles and objectives of foreign affairs, development and environmental policies, aimed at avoiding conflicts caused by shortages of raw materials and reducing environmental hazards.

The strategy is complementary to the European Commission's raw material initiative.
