inflation

The seminar on consumer behavior under expected impact and jointly released the main findings of China's consumer confidence survey in the fourth quarter of 2010 with Nielsen Co.

The survey shows that in the four quarter of 2010, China's consumer confidence index was 100, down 4 points from the three quarter.

Among them, rural consumers' expectation of future employment and economic income is better than that of cities, showing stronger confidence, 107, a slight increase of 1 points over the previous quarter, indicating a higher consumer confidence index in the rural and Middle Eastern regions.

City

Consumer

Confidence has dropped markedly.

According to the survey, only 30% of the consumers in the fourth quarter thought it was a good time to buy their own items, a significant decrease of 11 percentage points over the three quarter, and inflation pressure continued to increase.

In particular, the rise in food prices has increased consumers' worries about the weakening of the actual purchasing power of income, which also inhibits the consumer's willingness to consume.

In addition, high housing prices and rising interest rates have also partly suppressed consumption intentions, especially the fear of fast rising food prices, which is the main reason for the decline in consumer willingness.

Pan Jiancheng, deputy director of the China Economic Monitoring Center, commented that, judging from the current statistics,

consumption

Still maintained a steady growth trend.

During the Spring Festival just around the spring, the phenomenon of more active markets in other parts of the country showed that the fall in consumer confidence was more of a concern about inflation and had no obvious impact on actual consumption.

As the measures for managing inflation expectations have been effective, it is expected that consumer confidence will rise again.

Ma Chi, President of Nielsen Co Greater China, commented that China's economy continued to maintain a good momentum of development, strong growth in GDP and significant growth in total retail sales of consumer goods, which will also have a certain impact on reducing consumer inflation expectations.
