In 2010, Turkey exported 7 billion 740 million knitwear, Bangladesh exported 7 billion 780 million knitwear, such as sweaters, T-shirts and so on.

However, in terms of export volume, Turkey still leads Bangladesh, and Turkey exported 6 billion 920 million US dollars last year, which is higher than that of Bangladesh's US $6 billion 190 million export.


Bangladesh's clothing exports continue to grow at an alarming rate and increase by 40% in the current fiscal year. If this continues, Bangladesh is likely to overtake Turkey in terms of export volume in the next financial year.


Turkey knitwear manufacturers produce high-end products, such as sportswear, to cater to the demand of fashion retailers in western countries. Bangladesh producers mainly produce low-priced products such as T- T-shirts.


However, Bangladesh producers only began to explore in 1990s.
