It is approved by the Guangdong Provincial People's government and the Ministry of education is a provincial full-time regular higher education institution. It is the only province in Guangdong province.

It is an important base for personnel training in the textile and garment industry of the province.

The college is located in Guangfo metropolitan area of Guangdong Province, located in the central business district of Foshan, adjacent to the beautiful Dongping River, with beautiful and elegant campus.

The Institute has 8 departments and 3 departments, namely, the Department of textiles, clothing department, Department of economic management, Department of light chemical engineering, Department of art and design, Department of electrical and mechanical engineering, Department of information engineering, Department of Applied Foreign Languages and public teaching, continuing education, and Department of ideological and political theory.

There are more than 5000 students in the school, enrolling 13 provinces and cities nationwide, and 47 full-time candidates. The number of students will reach more than 5 thousand in 2011. In the past two years, the college has undertaken more than 40 research projects and approved 18 patents.

There are four professional directions: fashion design and engineering, fashion design and marketing, fashion design and display, and knitted garment design.

In the past three years, the average employment rate of graduates at the end of that year was more than 99%.

According to the process of garment design, professional teachers develop 17 teaching materials in cooperation with enterprises. Three of them are listed as "national planning textbooks for 11th Five-Year", and four are listed as "ministerial level" 11th Five-Year teaching materials.

In April 2006, the clothing design profession was rated as "Guangdong Province Higher Vocational Education Demonstration Construction Specialty".
