10 Suggestions For Dealing With Lazy Colleagues

Do you work with people who spend two hours on lunch, dozens of personal calls, and doze on office chairs?

When you are busy with your daily work, they frequented the lounge or stroll around the Internet all day.

Lazy colleagues are not uncommon, and they are not always easy to deal with.

It is useless to criticize or report, but you can do something to alleviate this problem.

Here are 10 suggestions for managing lazy colleagues, Steve Robbins, a senior executive coach and one of the ten major commercial podcasts in the US: Stever Robbins.

1. don't let them distract you.

Attention

Lazy colleagues sitting next to your desk often check Facebook messages, text messages or doze, but you can't be distracted.

Please discard distractions and concentrate on your work.

"Human behavior in this respect is very strange."

Robbins said, "we will spend more time watching the lazy colleagues instead of concentrating on their work."

2. don't get entangled in

Fairness

Life is not fair.

"People often say," it's not fair. He doesn't do anything, but he still gets his wages. "

But in the end, it can't change anything. "

Robbins said, "this will only make us feel uncomfortable, but things will not change."

We should focus on making the best of our work.

3. don't let them affect your mind.

If you waste your time and energy to be lazy with your lazy colleagues, your performance may start to slide, causing people around you to be dissatisfied with you, while a complaining colleague is no better than a lazy colleague.

4. don't make a small report.

This may make you look like a flatterer, so don't do that.

But that doesn't mean you should swallow it.

"This is something that needs to be carefully handled."

Robbins said, "how to do depends on the situation and the boss.

Some bosses might say, "thank you for telling me about it. I will investigate it."

Others may say, "your job is not to worry about colleagues."

This will make you thankless.

But if you say to your boss, "at present, I can't make any progress on this project, because I am waiting for Bill to finish his part of the work.

What should we do about it? "

This not only lets the boss know about this matter, but also makes you look like a gossip.

Robbins suggests that if the boss explicitly asks you to evaluate the performance of your colleagues, you should be honest.

5. don't let their way of doing things affect you.

Lazy colleagues often spend two hours in lunch, and run dozens of times in the lounge or water dispenser every day, but don't be affected by it.

If they start chatting with you, let them know you are busy.

"If they are lazy and not punished, it is easy to model them, but don't do that."

Robbins said.

6. don't let their work become your work.

If you are in the same team or share the same responsibilities, do not wipe your ass for them.

Remind them of the work and deadlines to be done, but don't spend too much valuable time in caring for lazy colleagues.

7. don't let them get in the way of your success.

Lazy colleagues will hinder your progress.

If the boss finds that the work is not finished, don't let the responsibility fall on your shoulders.

Besides, this is your chance to speak to your boss, if you haven't done so before.

8. take advantage of this opportunity to become

leader

This may be your chance to stand up and prove that you have the ability to handle difficult situations.

"When you go to the boss, tell him or her that you find your colleague has not finished the work, so you are willing to take this opportunity to guide him.

Then you can tell the colleague again that you are willing to help him accomplish his work goal before the deadline.

It will make you look like a leader. "

9. do not gossip or complain about other colleagues.

This is unprofessional performance.

"You may misunderstand and hurt your colleagues' feelings."

Robbins said.

10. communicate with them.

They may not be lazy, but they do not know their jobs or deadlines.

"Explain to them their goals, deadlines and obligations."

Robbins said, "sometimes they are not lazy, but work or time is not properly arranged."

They may also be busy dealing with personal matters.

"We must remember that people have life besides work."

Robbins said.

They may be distracted by health or family problems.
