At the annual Gap brand conference held at Gap Global Creative Center on Thursday, the brand president announced that it will open 45 stores in China by the end of 2012, so that the number of stores will reach three times that of the existing ones, and a flagship store will be opened in Hongkong in November 1st.


Meanwhile, the brand CEO Sabrina Simmons announced that the number of shops in the North American market of Gap will be reduced from 889 to 700.

Stephen Sunnucks, brand director, said the company hopes to double the number of franchised stores, and expects to reach 400 by the end of 2014.


Gap retail sales in the North American market increased by 16% in the first half of the year, especially in the Chinese market.
