In July 2nd, in the National Geographic Society of Washington, Peter, aged 8, stood beside the exhibits of 10512 shoes. All shoes are tiptoes arranged on the heel and tied together by shoelaces, forming a 2651.7 meter long "shoe chain". Peter was a participant in the event. He mobilized his family, his classmates and his pediatrician to collect 509 shoes. The National Geographic magazine's children's edition also won the Guinness world record for the world's longest "shoe chain". In July 2nd, Melina, editor in chief of the National Geographic magazine's children's edition, presented the Guinness world record certificate, the longest shoe chain in the world.
