The theme of this year's APEC conference is "the new commitment to Asia Pacific Development".

According to the organizers of the conference, as the current international financial crisis has caused a major impact on the global economy, including the Asia Pacific region, the APEC leaders' informal meeting will discuss the acceleration of regional economic integration and the liberalization of trade and investment, and it may also make a separate statement on dealing with the financial crisis.

During the conference week, business advisory council meetings, ministerial meetings, business summits and leaders' informal meetings will also be held.

The informal meeting of leaders will be held from 22 to 23.

From 1993 onwards, APEC held an annual informal meeting of leaders.

The meeting passed the Seoul declaration, which formally established the purpose and objective of the organization, namely, to maintain economic growth and development for the common interests of the local people, promote the interdependence of the economy among the members, strengthen the open multilateral trading system, and reduce the barriers to regional trade and investment.

In November 1991, China officially joined the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation in the name of the regional economy in the name of a sovereign state, China's Taipei and Hongkong (changed from July 1, 1997 to "China Hongkong").

Currently, APEC has 21 members, namely, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, China, China, Hongkong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua, New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Singapore, China Taipei, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam.

Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) adopts the principle of cooperation on a voluntary and consensual basis, and the decision must be approved by all members.

APEC's organizational structure includes informal meetings of leaders, ministerial meetings, senior officials' meetings, committees and thematic working groups.

Among them, the informal meeting of leaders is the highest level meeting of APEC, and so far it has been held 15 times.

Since its establishment, APEC has made continuous progress in promoting regional and Global trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, and economic and technological cooperation. It has made outstanding contributions to strengthening regional economic cooperation and promoting economic development and common prosperity in the Asia Pacific region.
