Hebei Jizhou Students Experience The Charm Of Traditional Intangible Cultural Heritage Through Hand Woven Fabrics

On August 15, a group of students were welcomed to the Tianyuan Cotton Cultural Park in Jizhou District, Hengshui City, Hebei Province. Under the leadership of Yin Hongxia, the inheritor of rural cotton hand weaving technology, they learned about the history of Chinese hand weaving and the evolution of tools, and experienced the traditional hand weaving technology.

Handwoven fabric is a kind of handmade textile that has been used by the working people for thousands of years. It has a strong local flavor. It takes 72 processes from cotton picking and spinning to weaving. With 22 basic colors, more than 1000 kinds of colorful patterns can be created.

In 2013, Jizhou's pastoral cotton hand weaving technique was included in the Hebei Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

It is reported that during the summer vacation this year, Jizhou District will carry out a series of research activities for primary and middle school students by using the platforms such as Tianyuan Cotton Cultural Park, Jizhou Expo Hall, and Ancient City Relics Cultural Park. Up to now, the cumulative number of visitors has reached 5000, greatly enriching the cultural life of teenagers in summer vacation. (By Cui Zhiping and Fan Jiawei)
