Customs statistics show that from 2007 to 2009, the import volume of second-hand goods in Cameroon increased from 34 thousand tons to 41 thousand tons, and the import volume had reached 33 billion.

Of the old goods imported from Cameroon, clothing accounted for 68%, shoes accounted for 22%, luggage and belts accounted for 6%, underwear and other commodities accounted for 4%.

Since 2004, Chinese commodities have begun to enter the Cameroon market, attracting many consumers at low prices, which has greatly reduced the import volume of second-hand goods in Cameroon, thus causing a huge impact on the second-hand goods market.

However, the quality of Chinese goods has always been a concern of the media and consumers.

Professor F Du O F told reporters that cheap Chinese products would not cause a fatal blow to the second-hand market.

This is because second-hand products in the secondhand goods market are durable and fashionable, while Chinese exports are not durable and are generally made of low cost materials.

Therefore, the secondhand goods from Europe will not end in the process of competition with Chinese goods.

In the field of second-hand goods, Belgium's exports to Cameroon account for more than half of the total value of imported goods from Cameroon.

In 2007, Belgium exported 25 thousand tons of second-hand goods to Cameroon with an export volume of 21 billion francs.

In 2009, Belgium exported 30 thousand tons of second-hand goods to Cameroon, and its exports increased to 25 billion francs.

The Republic of Korea

Following Belgium, it ranks second, and the total volume of second-hand goods exported to Cameroon has increased rapidly. In 2007, it was only 1500 tons, rising rapidly to 4000 tons in 2009 and earning 2 billion 500 million foreign exchange.

Holland ranked third, the export volume of second-hand goods was 2200 tons in 2009, and the export volume was 1 billion 500 million.

In addition to the top three countries, the other major exporters are Portugal, Italy, Turkey, France, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, with exports ranging from 500 to 900 tons.

In the context of South South cooperation, other African countries export to Cameroon.

Junk

Not many, of which Morocco ranks 28 in terms of total volume of 28 tons and export volume of non - Lang.

In the circulation of second-hand goods, according to Professor Ken Nefduop of the National Geographic Committee of Cameroon (KengneFodouop), the legal circulation channels coexist with the illegal distribution channels.

In terms of legal channels, the import of second-hand goods is mainly carried out by companies registered abroad.

Professor Duop published statistics in 2004, saying that 15% of these companies control more than half of the total value of second-hand goods, and 70% of these companies are concentrated in Douala, while other companies are scattered in Yaounde, Bamenda, and so on.
