The Chairman pointed out that at present, the recovery of the world economy is weak, global trade protection is intensifying, and uncertain and unstable factors are increasing. The Central Economic Work Conference also put forward the statement that "external pressure is increasing, and internal difficulties are increasing". The cotton textile industry is accelerating the construction of a modern industrial system, and focusing on improving the safety level of the industrial chain supply chain, The development resilience of the industry accumulated over the years, combined with a series of national stock increment policies, supports the overall stable operation of the industry.

In 2024, supported by such factors as the gradual effectiveness of the national consumption promotion policy, the domestic market of textiles and clothing will maintain a growth trend. In the first 10 months of this year, the retail sales of clothing, shoes and hats, knitwear and textile products of units above the national quota will increase by 1.1% year on year, and the online retail sales of physical goods will increase by 4.7% year on year; In terms of exports, the total value of China's foreign trade imports and exports increased by 3.7% year on year, and the export volume of textiles and clothing increased by 1.5% year on year, 1 percentage point faster than the first three quarters. The overall development of foreign trade maintained a good momentum of stable quality and quantity, and the export to ASEAN, the United States, the European Union and other major markets and countries maintained a positive growth. However, due to the volatility of demand and the uncertainty brought by geopolitical risks, the industry's foreign trade will still suffer from greater external pressure.

From the perspective of the main economic indicators of the industry, from January to October, the profit margin of cotton textile revenue was only 1.7%, and weaving was relatively better than spinning. From the perspective of the entire textile industry, cotton textile is the only industry in which the profit margin of each link of the textile industry chain is less than 2%, and the industry pressure is very obvious.

At present, the industry technology iteration is rapid, the pace of innovation is accelerating, and the "involution" competition is intensifying. How to respond to market competition with sustainable and efficient innovation is also a practical problem faced by enterprises. In this regard, the Chairman put forward three suggestions:
