Local Association: Shijiazhuang Municipal Government Held A Symposium For Textile Workers

Recently, a documentary shot by a Canadian photographer in 1978 about a female textile worker who reported to Shijiazhuang National Cotton Factory was spread online, causing social concern. In order to inherit the spirit of the older generation of textile workers as model workers and further stimulate the sense of striving and enterprising of contemporary textile workers, on November 20, the municipal government held a symposium for textile workers to "chase the time stamp, the old factory, the new dream and set sail", invited the three main characters in the video, as well as some representatives of old and in-service textile workers, to talk about textile feelings and put forward development suggestions. Ma Yujun, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, attended the symposium and delivered a speech.

Before the symposium, representatives of the staff and workers attending the symposium jointly visited Shijiazhuang Industrial Culture Exhibition Hall, the renovation and upgrading project of the former site of "Cotton One Cotton Two", and Changshan Hengxin Textile Co., Ltd. Hengsheng Branch. At the meeting, the female textile workers Wei Ling, Wang Yuying, Zhang Cuiling, Liu Cuiping, Liu Xiaoling, Ma Xiyue, Jiao Huijuan, Li Linmei, Duan Guilin and other veteran staff representatives involved in the documentary introduced their experience of working and living in the national cotton factory, and expressed their sincere feelings of loving the factory as home and having a career all their lives. Everyone expressed that they would continue to exert their waste heat and contribute to the development of the city.

Working staff Wei Beibei, Yang Pu and Liu Dong said that the older generation of textile workers were down-to-earth and worked hard, setting an example for the younger generation. The new generation of textile workers will vigorously carry forward the spirit of model workers, labor spirit and craftsmanship, inherit the textile industry tradition of Shijiazhuang, and show the style and image of textile workers in the new era.
